Nakheel has officially signed the construction contract for the $40.83 million The Broadwalk project on Palm Jumeirah, the developer has announced.
The waterfront attraction will run the full 11km length of the Palm Jumeirah’s crescent and is being built by Overseas AST Company LLC. It is one of several new destination projects currently underway at Palm Jumeirah. Work is scheduled to begin by the end of November, with completion scheduled for mid-2016.
The Broadwalk will turn Palm Jumeirah’s breakwater into a retail destination, with outlets for shopping and dining. It will also include East and West Piers, with each stretching 100 metres into the sea. These will feature cafes and restaurants as well, Nakheel said in a statement.
The project will be built over the rocks of the breakwater and will be six metres wide, the developer added. It will have 14 access points along the existing sidewalk and resorts on the Palm.
30 refreshment and souvenir kiosks will also be built along its length.
A number of Nakheel projects are underway at the Palm Jumeirah, including the massive Nakheel Mall and the high-end luxury destination, The Pointe. A number of residential projects are also being developed as well.
