Firefighters battle blaze at Kuwait oil site

No hazardous gases leaking, officials say

Firefighters in Kuwait are battling a blaze at an oil well site in the north of the Gulf state, according to the official news agency KUNA.

The Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) said firefighters were “exerting ongoing efforts” to put out a fire at the crude oil driller site. The cause and scale of the blaze were not specified.

Saad Rashed Al Azmi, a spokesperson for KOC, said roads leading to the oil fields and northern regions are safe, saying that the thick gas seen in the area is a result of the firefighting efforts.
