Work on 140km road project commences in Abu Dhabi

Al Fay-Razeen-Al Quaa highway to link the UAE capital with southern parts of the emirate

The Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, has announced that construction works have begun on the Al Faya–Razeen–Al Quaa carriageway project, reports WAM, the UAE state news agency.

The commencement of work follows the approval of the road upgrade project by Abu Dhabi’s Executive Council for a total value of more than AED377 million ($102.64 million).

The 140km road project will encompass construction of roundabouts, pavements, lay-bys, lighting, a storm water network and stray animal fences.

The upgrade of the existing road, connecting Abu Dhabi city to the southern parts of the emirate such as Al Quaa and Al Wagan, will streamline traffic movement and improve road safety for users.

The 88km first section will extend from Al Faya to Razeen at Mafrouda Interchange, and the 52km second part will end at Al Quaa. The first part will be a two-lane dual carriageway extending for 15km, while the remaining part will be one-lane dual carriageway, according to Hamad Al Murar, Musanada’s Acting CEO.
