DSI to secure $300m Iraqi pipeline contract

Iraqi oil and gas pipeline project signifies a shift in focus to overseas projects after slowdown in UAE

Dubai-based construction firm, Drake & Scull International (DSI) has said it’s close to securing a $300m contract in Iraq, as the company shifts its focus abroad after a slowdown in the UAE’s property sector.

DSI chief executive Khaldoun Tabari said the contract will be an oil and gas project to build a pipeline in Basra, Iraq. The company also plans to bid for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contract in Abu Dhabi’s multibillion dollar airport expansion, he said.

DSI, which operates in the Middle East as well as Thailand and Germany, is also eyeing a couple of projects in India and Sri Lanka, Tabari added.
