The leaders of Qatar, Bulgaria and Turkey have agreed to study the feasibility of joint infrastructure projects in their respective countries, it was announced on Friday.
One such project is the construction of a new motorway from Istanbul, stretching across the whole of Bulgaria. The three leaders agreed to send ministers to Sofia to study the possibility of building a 300km road link between Istanbul, in Turkey’s northwest and Bulgaria’s northern Danube bridge to Romania.
“We discussed possible partnerships between the three countries to develop infrastructure projects together,” the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al Thani said in a report carried by the Associated Free Press (AFP). 
His Bulgarian counterpart, Boyko Borisov added that the meeting between the three ministers would hopefully be the start of increased cooperation between the three countries.
“Depending on their conclusions, there is a readiness by Qatar and Turkey to set up a joint project company to start building this motorway via a public private partnership,” he explained.
Estimates by the Bulgarian construction ministry put the price of the new motorway at $995m.
