OARM selects Bahrain’s TIC for dross processing project

Plant is building an aluminium rolling mill

Oman Aluminium Rolling Mills (OARM) has awarded Bahrain’s Taha International Corporation (TIC) a contract to build a dross processing facility downstream of the aluminium plant.

As per the contract, TIC is to invest in a new system to recover aluminium metal from dross, which is a by-product of aluminium smelting and re-melting.

OARM, a 100% subsidiary of majority government-owned Takamul Investment Company, is building an aluminium rolling mill with 140,000 — 160,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) capacity, adjoining the smelter of Sohar Aluminium.

Taha’s new facility in Oman will come on the heels of a similar installation for Rio Tinto’s Pacific Aluminium smelter at Tiwai Point in New Zealand, which opened last year.
