Sasaki sets sustainable framework for eco-friendly Dead Sea development

National Honour Award winning plan establishes a balanced approach between development and conservation

International planning and design firm,Sasaki Associates, has said its detailed master plan for the Jordan Dead Sea Development Zone encompasses 40km2 of land along the north and east coast of the Dead Sea.

The US-based firm was commissioned to set up a detailed master plan as a sustainable framework for existing committed lands, future development parcels, infrastructure provisions, and natural resources protection.

The plan, which won a National Honour Award at the recent AIA convention in Washington DC, establishes a balanced approach between development and conservation of the Dead Sea’s precious resources, while supporting social infrastructure for nearby existing communities, the firm said.

It also comprises comprehensive design guidelines, a detailed infrastructure report, and an extensive market study that would provide the Jordaniangovernment with tools to attract investment and steer future development in accordance with the plan.
