A tender has been floated by Oman’s Ministry of Transport and Communications seeking a project consultancy firm to manage the 265km long Batinah Expressway.
This comes one week after the Tender Board awarded the second package for building the carriageway to a consortium of Malaysia’s WCT Berhad and Oman Roads Engineering Company.
Last February, Galfar Engineering was awarded the $361.2m contract for the first package that would link Barka with Suwaiq, which is expected to be ready within three years. 
The winner of the new tender will be responsible for the management of the six packages comprising the entire project.
So far, four companies have expressed their interest in the project management contract. The documents will be distributed until September 26, with the last date for submitting bids set on October 22.
US-based Parsons International designed the first and second section of the carriageway, which together account for a 180km section, while Turkey’s Bosphorous Technical Consulting Corporation (Botek) offered consultancy services for the remaining 85km stretch of the road project.
