Omran picks AECOM for hotel cost management contract

Hotel will be completed by December 2015

Oman’s government-owned tourism development company, Omran, has awarded AECOM Technology Corporation the contract for the cost management of a 300-bed, four-star hotel at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre precinct in Muscat.

The facility has been designed to accommodate world congresses, exhibitions, regional meetings, gala events, performances and concerts. It features a 3,200-seat, tiered auditorium and over 22,000 mof exhibition space.

The precinct will house two business parks, an additional three hotels and a number of residential properties, offering 1,000 hotel rooms, as well as a conveniently located shopping centre.

Under the contract, worth around $1.1m, AECOM will be responsible for carrying out pre- and post-contract cost management of the convention centre, its associated hotel, and all the roads and utilities required to service the growing precinct.

The hotel is expected to be completed by December 2015.
