17km Umm Al Quwain bypass road opens

New three lane road was built to link the country’s seven emirates and ease travel between them

The UAE Public Works Ministry opened on Thursday the 17km-long Bypass Road from Umm Al Quwain’s Falaj Al Mualla to Emirates Road.

The project, including all the road services, was completed in 24 month at a total cost of $44.9m, according to Abdullah Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, the under-secretary of the ministry.

The new road consists of three lanes in each direction and includes a bridge.It is part of projects financed by the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan with the aim of linking the country’s seven emirates and ease travel between them, said Al Nuaimi.

The new road will undergo further work to extend it from Al Aqran area until it joins the Ring Road in Ras Al Khaimah.
