Aramco, Sumitomo award Petrofac two contracts

Contracts are the first major awards under Saudi Aramco’s In-Kingdom EPC programme

Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical Company have awarded British oil & gas service provider, Petrofac, two contracts for the second stage of the expansion of their joint venture petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia.

Under the terms of  the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deals, Petrofac will be responsible for the construction of tank farms and common utilities at the Petro Rabigh refinery, about 150km north of Jeddah on the Red Sea.

The contracts are the first major awards under Saudi Aramco’s In-Kingdom EPC programme. Scheduled for completion within 36 months, the two contracts will be delivered by Petrofac’s Saudi Arabia office in Al-Khobar.

The financial terms for the contracts have not been disclosed.
