Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) has now officially opened the new extension of its City Centre Sharjah shopping mall. The upgrade took the mall from its previous 37,728sqm of gross leasable area to 51,428sqm.
MAF notes that it spent $71 million on the extension and freshening the interior and exterior of the mall, with a view to improve customer experience. The mall now features a contemporary design that includes a skylight ceiling and a redesigned entrance that allows more natural light in. Parking capacity has also increased from 700 spaces to 1,426.
“City Centre Sharjah has evolved and transformed to meet the changing expectations of our customers. We began as a community mall, serving the day-to-day needs of this densely populated area of Sharjah, and are proud to have grown into a truly regional destination drawing visitors from across the emirate and beyond,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, managing director for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Shopping Malls (UAE, Bahrain & Oman). 
The mall transformation is expected to continue in the coming months. MAF says shoppers can expect new homeware stores and entertainment options including Sharjah’s first 12-screen VOX Cinemas.
“Bigger, brighter and better than ever before, it also has a more contemporary, relaxing atmosphere that underscores City Centre Sharjah’s role as a hub for Sharjah’s residents and tourists,” added Sharaf.
