Dubai’s property developer, Nakheel has announced that they have started work on the rooftop, infinity pool at the Palm Tower, its 52-storey hotel and apartment complex located at Palm Jumeirah.
Situated 210 m above ground on the 50th floor and covering 775 sqm, Nakheel said that the pool will have borders on all four sides of the building and offer panoramic views across Palm Jumeirah. Holding 930,000 l of water it is said to be one of the highest infinity pools in the world.
The Palm Tower will also have a podium housing a signature restaurant at its 51st floor and a public viewing deck on the 52nd floor at a height of 240 m, for which the access point will be from the under-construction Nakheel Mall, which has its own Palm Monorail station due for completion this year. Construction of the restaurant and public viewing deck will begin soon, reported Nakheel.
During the tour of the construction site, Aqil Kazim, chief commercial officer at Nakheel said: “The Palm Tower is a lifestyle project and that is what Dubai wants today; the views are naturally going to be waterfront and that is a unique opportunity we have. It’s important to emphasise that this tower is an iconic address on the island, with a five-star hotel, residential apartments, access to the $330 million Nakheel mall and the beach, all connected by the Palm Monorail.
The Palm Tower comprises a 289-room St Regis hotel till its 18th floor and 432 luxury residential apartments consisting of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedrooms with the latter selling upwards of $2.7 million. With the infinity pool being connected to the signature restaurant, residents and hotel guests will have access to two outdoor swimming pools on the third floor. Other amenities include a spa, a gym and numerous F&B units in the tower.
Kazim added: “The access to the tower and mall is from multiple points, with five car accesses and three pedestrian entrances, separate to the monorail, which is connected to the tram which is linked to the metro.” He explained that one of the pedestrian access is through the Al Ittihad Park which is joined to the Nakheel Mall which is directly accessible from the tower.
Nakheel also reported that the construction for St. Regis hotel along with the restaurant and the mall will be completed in 2019, whereas fit-out work for the residential apartment will be completed by 2020.
