Abu Dhabi Municipality says $27m running and cycling track project reaches 45% completion mark

Project will encourage members of community to practice a daily healthy lifestyle

Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has announced the completion of 45% of work on a project to extend the scope of the UAE capital’s running and cycling tracks across 28 sites on the island of Abu Dhabi and the mainland.

In a statement, the municipality said that the $27.2 million project stretches 14.12km for cycling lanes, while running tracks are 39.31km. It added that the project aims to encourage members of the residential community to practice cycling, walking and running as part of a daily healthy lifestyle, and to use them as modes of clean, eco-friendly transportation.

ADM also said that it is planning to enhance the appearance of the areas surrounding the running and cycling tracks, by landscaping them.
