Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) have become a member of the International Organisation for Electrical Energy Systems (Sigri).
Sigri was founded in 1921 in Paris and focuses on energy affairs including production, transport and distribution, and aims to improve the future of energy networks.
According to a statement, the membership will help SEWA contribute to enhancing participation and knowledge exchange among energy systems specialists worldwide, in addition to helping improve sustainable electricity generation, and developing specifications and standards.
The membership will also be useful in terms of research and studies, and will enable SEWA to participate in conferences that will discuss technical and strategic challenges facing the energy sector.
SEWA chairman Dr Rashid Al Leem said the membership with the international organisation was very important. He explained, “It will provide the maximum benefits of the specialised research and studies in the fields of energy, contributing in developing a better vision for the future of networks for sustainable development.”
