The nomination deadline for the Big Project ME Awards 2021 have been extended to December 23, 2021, the editorial team has confirmed, due to the end-of-year calendar congestion.
Gavin Davids, head of Editorial and Content for Big Project ME, said that the decision was made to accommodate the high volume of nominations coming through, with more than 150 received so far.
“We have received a fantastic response to the nominations drive this year but have had repeated requests for an extension to the deadline. While we encourage companies to submit their nominations on time or ahead of the deadline, we understand that this may not always be possible due to the heavy workload at this time of the year. Therefore, we have decided to extend the deadline to the 23rd, which will be the final and absolute deadline for nominations,” said Davids.
This year, in a bid to help companies submit strong nominations, the Big Project ME team has conducted interviews with judges from the 2020 event, which are being shared on the MEConstructionNews.com LinkedIn page.
Alex Albani from American University of Dubai, Nithin Thomas of BIM Plus Plus, Peter Westeng of Omnium International and Allison Wicks of Qualitaz, all shared their thoughts on the awards process, as well as their tips for what makes a winning nomination.
Following the close of nominations, the Big Project Middle East team will begin the first round of eliminations. The nominations that make it through to the second round of will then be sent to a new set of judges, handpicked by the editorial team. Following a period of individual deliberation by the judges, they will then convene in person and vote on the strongest submissions for the final shortlist to presented on the night of the awards.
The panel of judges will be revealed on the night of the awards, and will be professionals from across the construction sphere, including consultants, architects, designers and academics.
