Emaar denies that it plans to surpass the Burj Khalifa

Company says that media reports misinterpreted quotes from chairman Mohamed Alabbar

Emaar has denied that it plans to construct a building that will surpass the Burj Khalifa in height following media reports that the company plans to construct another super-tall building in Dubai.

In a statement from the developer, a spokesperson said that Emaar denies the reports by sections of the media and that there are no current plans to develop a building taller than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

“In a television conversation with CNN during April this year, Company Chairman Mohamed Alabbar discussed tall towers and modern technologies that make it possible for Dubai to build another tall building. The media reports used this April conversation as a source which does not spell a firm decision,” the spokesperson explained further.
