Projects worth AED17.5 billion ($4.8bn) have been approved by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, state news agency WAM reported.
The allocated capital includes AED5.9 billion for housing, AED4.3 billion for infrastructure, AED1.8 billion for education, AED614 million for governmental facilities and AED644 million for social facilities, it was reported.
The developments were signed off at an Executive Council meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. 
Three key contracts were approved for infrastructure works at the ‘Emirati Neighbourhood’ Project, located in Madinat Zayed between Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The three contracts include infrastructure, road networks, 2755 residential land plots, 37 mosques, 47 gardens and 13 schools. The project is valued at AED2.367 billion and will service 370,000 citizens in a 4,500-hectare residential compound featuring service facilities and world-class construction specifications.
Another project given the green light was a 50km two-way road linking Madinat Zayed to Al Marfa’ City, at a value of AED664 million.
