Galfar bags $78.2m grid station deals

Contractor to build three grid stations and lay 132km of cables across country

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has awarded Galfar Engineering and Contracting Company contracts worth a total of $78.24m for the construction of grid stations in different parts of the Sultanate.

The contracts include a $26.8m deal for construction of another grid station at Ghala and installation a required 132km of cables in the Muscat Governorate, as well as contracts worth $51.44m to build two grid stations, said Galfar.

“The contract period for the Ghala grid station and installation of 132km cables in Muscat governorate is sixteen and a half month in addition six weeks of mobilization,” said Dr Hans Erlings, CEO of Galfar in a disclosure to the Muscat Securities Market.

The deals come shortly after Galfar said it expects its order book, which was more than $1.8bn, to climb further as the company expects more projects to be awarded in the near future.
