The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has helped recover financial dues owed to 10,500 workers in the country, according to the state news agency WAM.
Inspection teams visited 598 establishments, workers’ accommodation areas and 870 worksites across the UAE during the first nine months of this year.
The 10,500 workers found to have overdue wages represented 2.6 percent of the total of 409,000 covered by the inspections. 
Maher Al-Obed, Assistant Under-Secretary for Inspection Affairs, said the 12 inspection teams unearthed a variety of violations within 122 facilities.
These included wage non-compliance, salary delays, avoidance of overtime payments and lack of compensation for those working on public holidays.
The inspection visits are also aimed at raising awareness among business owners, specifically those employing over 50 workers, to provide accommodation to workers, as per a recent decree.
Owners and workers were informed about their responsibilities under UAE law, it was reported.
